Overview

Why do we need to talk about femoroacetabular impingement (FAI)?

The vast majority of high-ranking videos on the internet regarding FAI or hip impingement score poorly on a basic quality checklist. This means when our patients come and see us they may feel like they have a good understanding of their injury, however, chances are they have not been exposed to quality information.

In this online course hosted by the Canadian Physiotherapy Association (CPA) Orthopaedic Division, we will take an evidence-based approach to FAI including operative and non-operative management with a focus on futuristic and collaborative approaches to care.

Course Content

In this online course taught by Dr. Femi Ayeni, Professor and the Division Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at McMaster University, the following topics will be covered:

  • Overview of CAM and Pincer morphologies
  • Diagnostic steps and differential diagnosis
  • The process leading to surgical procedure
  • Insight into various surgical procedures
  • Current research on the causation of FAI
  • Best management practices and outcome measures
  • Case example to tie it all together
  • Pre-recorded question period
  • Quiz to test your knowledge

Audience

This course is for Physiotherapists (Physical Therapists) and other healthcare professionals who wish to further their knowledge on FAI.

Please note: There were some connection issues during the recording of this webinar and therefore there are some awkward jumps between subjects. We did our best to edit this in a way that makes it understandable and enjoyable to watch.
