New Course Release: The Hip Complex: Breaking Down Barriers To Better Outcomes

This course is the first of its kind combining clinical skills, the patient experience and developing soft skills to improve patient engagement and retention. Learn from three experts, Jim Millard, Darryl Yardley and Erik Schmidt in order to break down the barriers surrounding patient engagement and clinical skills to get better outcomes. This includes an introduction to the 3 C's concept; caring excellence; customer service excellence; clinical excellence. The course is a combination of content about the anatomy and physiology of the hip, the patient experience and developing soft skills to improve patient engagement and retention.

About The Instructors:

 Darryl Yardley - Embodia Academy Instructor

Darryl Yardley (PT, FCAMPT) 

Darryl is currently the Director of Quality, Risk and Therapy Services at the Brant Community Health System. He is the Chair of the Private Practice Division of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. He is a consultant with orthopaedic and neurosurgeons and has a special interest in hip and spine. He is a co-author of, Diagnosis and Management of Femoroacetabular Impingement: An Evidence-Based Approach – Chapter: ‘Evidence for Rehabilitation After FAI Surgery: A guide to Postsurgical Rehabilitation and Supporting Evidence.’ Darryl is the professor of the Business and Entrepreneurship in Physical Therapy course at Western University. He also lectures at McMaster, University of Toronto and Queen's on business and practice management topics. Darryl is the founder of Mentorship Bootcamp - offering the business training and career mentorship to succeed in today’s competitive market. He consults with many clinic owners to grow their business, and develop the business-acumen of their therapists. He is the co-founder of EnCORE Research, and a partner of the Pelvic Health Research Collaborative. He is the co-founder of Entry to Practice Essentials, the first Canadian PCE study guide.

 

Jim Millard - - Embodia Academy Instructor

Jim Millard (BScPT, MClSc(PT), DPT, FCAMPT)

Jim is an accredited international teacher for the Mulligan Concept of manual therapy. He is a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapists (FCAMPT). Jim is past vice chair of the Leadership Division of the CPA. 

Jim has been assisting Jack Miller with the Mulligan Concept in Canada since 1997 and passed the teacher certification examination in Vancouver in 2007. 

He is a lecturer at Western University in the MClSc PT program. Jim has presented at symposia both provincially and nationally on manual therapy and on therapeutic alliance/communication themes. Jim is a partner at Body Mechanics in London Ontario where he resides with his family.

 

Erik Schmidt - - Embodia Academy Instructor

Erik Schmidt, BA(kin), MScPT, MClSc, FCAMT

Erik is an experienced and dynamic physiotherapist who has attained advanced training in manual therapy and the McKenzie MDT system.

He worked primarily with national-level athletes and closely with the local orthopedic surgeons. He is also a faculty member of NOSM (The Northern Ontario School of Medicine) where he lectures and hosts in-clinic orthopaedic mentorship for R1 and R2 physicians residents.

He now assists as an instructor to the program while concurrently qualifying to become a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manual Therapists, an internationally recognized, highest possible Canadian designation.
