How To Care For And Treat The Female Athlete

Have you ever felt that you could be doing better for your female clients? That you are just going through the motions of what you have been previously taught along your journey to becoming a physiotherapist or fitness professional? Maybe you feel that there must be more than one way of doing something right? Maybe you want to look outside the box that we all have been confined to at one time or another?

If you answered “yes” to any of the above questions, it is your time to challenge the standard beliefs taught within the physiotherapy and fitness industry. In this new course led by the Physio Detective, Antony Lo, challenge what you know and learn how to help your female clients do even better.

The Female Athlete Online Course

During this course, you will meet Vicki, an attendee of the Female Athlete course who was unable to lift 16kg (35lbs) without feeling pelvic symptoms. She felt hopeless and disclosed many aspects of her journey through pelvic prolapse that made her feel that she would never improve. Her hope and enthusiasm returned after Antony showed her how to lift the 16kg without any symptoms occurring in under a minute.

The confusion of why she had never been told to do what she learned throughout this course is idly stricken across Vicki’s face. Why wasn’t this more well-known? She could have returned to CrossFit training years earlier after giving birth. Throughout this course, Vicki was shown that she can do things she didn’t think was possible for her anymore. She finished the weekend by completing a deadlift of 70kg (155lbs) with no symptoms. Sound too good to be true? It isn’t!

Here is a 5-minute clip of how Vicki’s symptoms changed by applying the principle of doing something different.

Throughout this course, you will learn how to be even better than you already are and help more clients. Antony is on a mission to change the world for women and truly empower them to do the most they can to achieve their dreams and live life the way they want to without fear or hesitation.

The course will challenge the way you think and enlighten your biases and beliefs. You will learn how to frame questions to your clients that eliminate bias’s and even when you think you know the answer to a client’s presentation you will learn to stop and think. Think about what you are seeing and do everything you can to prove what you are seeing wrong. Never stop questioning and continue to have an open mind, especially with evidence that shows that what has always been done in the past is not always the way of the future.

Antony will provide knowledge about many topics relating to women’s pelvic health, including ante-natal and post-natal considerations, as well as hot topics such as diastasis recti. You will learn about assessment and management techniques and the core principles that Antony adheres to, to provide optimal care for his female clients.

It is often thought that when a woman is experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction, high-intensity exercises should be avoided. This is not the case. You will learn about these types of exercises such as squats, deadlifts and bench press that are used in powerlifting, CrossFit, as well as jumping, plyometrics and agility techniques. Antony will teach you modifications that you can use with your patients and different tools that you can use to communicate, assess and treat your high-intensity athletes all while balancing the biological and psychosocial aspects of your clients, their coaches and expectations.

Help the industry to redefine optimal. And remember, restricting activity in the hope of saving a vagina is not holistic women’s health.
