Practice Management on Embodia - Part 2: Scheduling

Please note that SMS notifications are not a substitute for email notifications. To receive SMS notifications, the patient must have an email address on file. This is because SMS (short for Short Messaging Service) notifications will include limited information. Embodia cannot convey all the needed information to your patients using that medium only (such as their login credentials, the links to questionnaires and consent forms, etc.).

When you connect your Twilio account to Embodia, a new field will show up in:

  • The patient information form;
  • The online booking request form (if enabled); and
  • The patient sign-up form (if you allow new patients to book directly using the online booking).

Entering a mobile number in the patient information form

When adding a new patient or updating the information of an existing patient, you can now add their mobile number:

If you have enabled online booking requests for your clinic (more information here), the patient can now provide their mobile number when submitting a request:

By default, the added field will be optional, i.e., the patient does not have to provide a mobile number to submit the request. You can override this default behaviour from the online booking settings (more information here) by clicking on the edit icon next to the Twilio integration field. You can choose to keep it optional, make it required, or completely remove the field from the online booking request.
