Train the Trainer Part 3: Recording 101

Finally, there is one setting that you may want to keep an eye on while setting up to record. This is only a concern if you are trying to synchronize two audio recording devices, like a camera and an audio recorder.

Audio frequency is the sampling rate of the recorded audio, which determines the quality of the digital audio. You may be presented with multiple options for this setting, such as 44.1kHz and 48kHz (the standards for CDs and digital media like video respectively). All of your audio sources should be using the same frequency: 48kHz. If there is a mismatch, there is a chance the two files will not synchronize properly as they were technically recorded at different speeds.
